If you like to help others study, and you have pretty good study habits yourself, then this is a business that just about anyone could start up part time, or full time, if they really wanted to. Depending on your level of experience and education, just about anyone could start a tutoring business from pre-school on up to college level, depending on the level of education you would like to teach.
The most common tutor customer would be a junior high school student, or high school student, who needs help with their studies. If you have the knack, and the patience to help teach others, and it's something you think you would enjoy, then get started setting this business up as fast as you can!
The fastest and easiest way to get students for this type of business would be to make up a flier, and pass it out at school parking lots, football games, PTA meetings, and anywhere parents might be involved with their kids.
You can also run ads in local newspapers and school papers in your area.
To get the best results, you need to find your specialty and cater to that. If you're great in math, offer tutoring just in math, if you're good with teaching kids how to tie their shoes and brush their teeth, start something like that up. You could even charge more, if you specialize in something, like math, or science, just like a doctor who specializes in one certain area, instead of just general medicine, then he can charge more too.
